"The classroom should be an entrance into the world, not an escape from it."
John Ciardi
As the year winds down I've been receiving an increasing amount of requests for ways to publish materials and manage a workflow online. Whether it be for review purposes or to work toward a goal of a paperless classroom (or at least a reduced paper classroom) more and more people have been seeking me out for this type of work. It's exciting to me because it's something I see the value in and have experience with implementing in the classroom. If you're looking for ways to extend the learning outside of the confines of your classroom and the school day there are many tools that can help you accomplish those goals. Teachers often discover tools but have difficulty getting students to them and holding them accountable. Another thing that can be challenging is the management of assignments and classwork in an online environment. Services such as Google Apps For Education, specifically Google Classroom, can really help with those challenges. Classroom is a streamlined Learning Management System that can serve as an online hub for your classroom allowing you to connect your students with resources and manage assignments. We have several teachers who piloted its use this year and I'm currently working with teachers who are planning on using it next year. Check out the video and let me know if you're interested in exploring Google Classroom further. | |
